520 3 _aThis book reveals the various components of the sorghum value chain and the interventions attempted under the National Agricultural Innovation Project's (NAIP) Millets Value Chain subproject in India. Chapter 1 presents an overview of the production and utilization of millets, while chapter 2 highlights the gaps in and scope of the millets value chain. Chapter 3 discusses the nutritional and health benefits of millets. The next chapters discuss the NAIP value chain interventions at the on-farm production stage (chapter 4); at the processing stage (chapter 5); and with regard to consumer acceptability, entrepreneurship, commercialization, promotion and policymaking (chapter 6). Chapter 7 presents an impact assessment of the millets value chain interventions. Finally, chapter 8 highlights the constraints and challenges to the value chain project and the prospects for the future.
